"Those to Whom Evil Is Done Do Evil in Return"

Special Emergency Edition: The Israel-Palestine Conflict
DY365

In this “special emergency edition” of Texting, Tomek and I discuss the current state of the conflict in Israel-Palestine. We do not claim to be experts on this topic, but we do consider ourselves to be well enough informed to offer a counternarrative to the bellicose pro-Israel propaganda spewed forth by the mainstream media. Note that the title of this episode is an allusion to W.H. Auden’s poem “September 1, 1939,” which I mention toward the end of the pod. The JFK quote I could not recall verbatim is as follows: “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.” Is it not apropos?

Clips will be posted anon.

For more context on Palestine and Palestinian culture, see our S2E15 episode on Mahmoud Darwish’s poem “A Lesson from Kama Sutra”:

I also recommend the latest episode of Useful Idiots, which highlights Palestinian voices that the MSM typically ignores and/or suppresses:

Notice that YouTube, at least here in Taiwan, has age-restricted—that is, censored—this video. So it goes.
