The world is yours, textual deviants!
This week on Texting, Tomek and I discuss the 1983 remake of the classic gangster film Scarface. Listening back, I think I may have overused the word “fantastic” during the pod, but my enthusiasm for this movie—which I have probably seen at least ten times—knows no bounds. Like many a film critic before me, I opine that Oliver Stone’s screenplay is brilliant, Brian De Palma’s directing is superb, and Al Pacino’s performance is likely the finest of his career. I even express a fondness for Giorgio Moroder’s garish 80s soundtrack. Tomek more or less concurs with my assessment, but he is slightly less fanatical in his appreciation. Press play to hear the full convo and to learn, among other things, why Miami is the “New Atlantis.”
Tomek is currently in London, and that great city will be the subject of next week’s episode. Stay tuned!
