Dear Substackers,
Your favorite author, songwriter, and publisher in permanent exile had a busy and reasonably productive October. In case you missed a post or two since the last monthly update, I’ll provide a summary below of everything that happened here at Mission Control in the ghoulish tenth month of 2023.
I Am a Pilgrim and a Stranger, Traveling Through This Wearisome Land . . .
First and foremost, I’m pleased to announce that the ebook version of Pilgrimizing, a travelogue of my 2014 trip to Israel-Palestine, has finally been published. It’s currently priced at 9.99 USD, but I’ll run a special soon so watch your inbox for updates. The paperback will be out in the next week or two.
Attention, Textual Deviants!
Speaking of Israel-Palestine, Tomek and I recorded a “special emergency edition” of Texting in mid-October to discuss recent events in “The Holy Land.” The full episode of the pod, along with clips, has been uploaded to YouTube:
#Shorts
I’m still making short YouTube videos inspired by my epic Of Letters and a Man and my translation of Fernando Pessoa’s Message. Here are the most recent uploads:
Weekly Jukebox in Your Inbox
I hope you’ve continued to enjoy receiving a new “Song of the Week” with words & music by Mark Will every Friday (except last Friday, when I was preoccupied with the formatting and publication of the Pilgrimizing ebook). As you may have noticed, I’ve started sharing tracks from the forthcoming remix album by my musical project [ai], No Cure for the Princess Disease or Its Mutant Viral Strains. Here’s the latest upload to YouTube:
Ready to Rumble?
At the same time, I’ve become increasingly concerned about the long-term viability of the increasingly censorious Google-owned YouTube. I’ve consequently begun to establish a tentative presence on Rumble. The first step was to upload the music video for “Dystopian Theme Song,” which YouTube “age-restricted”—that is, “censored.” I’ll upload more content over there anon.
What’s Next?
Stay tuned for updates on the paperback publication of Pilgrimizing, as well as more shorts, music videos, podcast clips, audiobook excerpts, etc. Until soon!
