You may find this hard to believe, textual deviants, but not everyone is a fan of your favorite textually deviant podcast. In fact, I recently received some rather pointed feedback from a disgruntled subscriber to markwillwrite, who singled out Texting for particular criticism:
In a sense, I have to agree with this person (who may or may not suffer from borderline personality disorder). In the livestream of this second part of S4E10, for example, Maduro Es Inocente (yours truly) completely botched his explanation of Schopenhauer’s philosophy around the 32-minute mark (though he somewhat redeemed himself around 1:12:00). More egregiously, Maduro spread misinformation about the relationship between Orwell and Huxley at 48:40 (see the show notes below for clarification). There is also some ear-splitting feedback as Piddly Soul (Tomek) spins that damned wheel (roughly 11:00-14:30). So if you are not already among those happy few who watched the “raw” version of the pod, I would advise you not to even bother at this point:
On the other hand, I highly recommend the “cooked,” edited version, with awkward pauses removed and the above-mentioned blemishes smoothed over:
And if you still haven’t seen Part 1, you may want to watch it first:
We hope to finish this godforsaken tournament-style episode when we livestream Part 3 (this weekend, if all goes well). Maybe the “bald old dirty dude” and the rest of the panel can attract an audience of double digits this time.
Show Notes
Somewhat presciently, Tomek recommended this book “if you’re ever planning a trip to Turkey” (more on that later):

Mandelbaum’s is the best English translation of Dante I’m aware of (and this edition includes the original Italian text as well):
My attempt to illustrate Schopenhauer’s philosophy:
