So sorry, my dearest textual deviants! I made you believe I would post a Texting update last week . . . and then I failed to follow through! Alas, this is the second time such a thing has happened in a month! That is just so typically me. I could tell you that it was another extraordinarily manic Monday—and in all honesty it absolutely was—but I don’t want to justify myself with lame excuses. So please accept my humblest apologies. Can’t you see I’m a fool in so many ways?
At least let me try to atone by providing you with answers to the belated Christmas trivia questions of January 2:
1. The title of the 2003 Xmas black comedy featuring Billy Bob Thornton is Bad Santa.
2. The name of the Germanic “anti-Santa” is Krampus. (Isn’t he pretty?)
3. The last word of dialogue in Stanley Kubrick’s last movie is the monosyllabic response Nicole Kidman gives to Tom Cruise at the end of Eyes Wide Shut (which just so happens to be set during the Yuletide season):
Congrats to Can’t Find My Way Home for answering the first two questions correctly . . . and for censoring himself when answering the third!
Since I’ve apparently been making these trivia questions too easy, here’s a follow-up (and it’s a two-parter):
What is the original title of the literary work on which Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut is based and who is the author of that literary work?
If you can answer that without looking it up, you will be given the textually deviant password to the textually deviant masked ball at the textually deviant mansion on the hill.
Well, now that I’m back on track with my Texting posts, I hereby resolve not to miss another Monday in 2023. (I typically keep about 20% of my New Year’s resolutions, so we’ll see how things play out.) In the meantime, watch your inbox for something big from Texting HQ next week. Until then!
