Well, Audiophiles, Craig and I are finally back with the third installment of our Roxy Music series on Guitar & Pen. (We actually recorded it three weeks ago, but certain legal entanglements I’m currently dealing with caused this pod to be “stranded” in production hell for a brief period.) Here in Episode 3, my favorite Caledonian and I tune in to the first post-Eno Roxy Music album: Stranded (which Eno himself has called his favorite LP in the Roxy catalogue, interestingly enough). With new member Eddie Jobson playing the role of Eno 2.0 (and a more musical rather than anti-musical one at that) and John Gustafson filling in on bass, Ferry & Co. continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible for pop and rock in this late 1973 release. Now, admittedly, if you’re looking for love in a looking-glass world, it’s pretty hard to find, but that’s no reason not to press play above and hear my distinguished musicological guest and myself break the Third Roxy Music Album down for you.
